What "bib numbers" can do to help grow your business!

Starbucks is unveiling "Vivanno" a new smoothie-type beverage on July 15, 2008. To help fan the fires of anticipation, Starbucks baristas' have become walking billboards, wearing signs like the one above pinned to their aprons.

At the store we visited this morning, almost every customer, ourselves included, asked what the "Vivanno 07-15" sign meant. And each barista was happy to provide a detailed, anecdotal explanation.

In the past, we've suggested associates carry new product around with them with the goal they'll engage shoppers in conversation about that item. We also like Bag Stuffers because they're a stealthy way to advertise with no coast of distribution, plus they're great for starting store related conversations between customers and cashiers. (Remember: Regardless of what the name implies, NEVER, EVER pre-stuff Bag Stuffers into bags because there's a good chance they'll get thrown away with the bag without the customer ever reading them.)

Now you can add the wearable "bib number" sign above to your list of marketing tricks. If you're having a big sale, in-store event, new product arrivals, or even a celebrity coming to your store, advertise it on your associates. Those little signs are sure to build a buzz about town!

We Googled "bib numbers" and found http://www.eventsonline.ca , a company that sells bib number and race number signs worn by athletes in various events.
