We know a lot of you will be hitting the road this week for Las Vegas and the National Hardware Show. After your day at the show, check out a few of our favorite things to do.
Phoenix Rock Band at the Las Vegas Hilton. Catch this is rock 'n' roll spectacle, featuring your favorite songs performed by five incredibly talented musicians (including names you’ll know as soon as you hear them, and maybe even a surprise celebrity guest or two …), plus a multi-million dollar audio and visual presentation.
Phoenix headlines each week as part of the Hilton's Group Therapy Thursdays. Group Therapy Thursdays include pre-concert and after-concert parties in the Tempo Lounge, and high-energy dance bands after the concert in the Shimmer Lounge.
Trust us; Phoenix at the Hyatt will be the best 20 bucks you spend in Vegas.
Bellagio Las Vegas. This property is a kaleidoscope for your senses. Check out the 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers on the lobby ceiling; the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens; and the not-to-be missed Fountains of Bellagio where dancing waters perform to beautiful music.
Paris Las Vegas. The sandwiches, soups, salads and straight-from-the-oven pastries at JJ’s Boulangerie are to die for. And Mon Ami Gabi is fun for al fresco dining on the Strip, plus you get a ring-side seat for the Fountains of Bellagio. After dinner, do the Eiffel Tower Experience for an incredible view of the Strip and other famous Vegas landmarks.
New York-New York Hotel & Casino. Outside NY-NY you’ll find an accurate depiction of the Manhattan skyline of the 40s with 12 interconnected skyscrapers, a 150-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty, and The Tribute to Heroes, a moving collection of personal items placed by visitors honoring those lost in the tragic events of September 11. Inside NY-NY, check out Gallagher’s Steakhouse (a NYC original since 1927) for a great meal; Nine Fine Irishmen for traditional Irish food and entertainment; and The Bar at Times Square™ for the dueling piano show and rowdy sing-a-long.
Discounted Show Tickets. There are several places on the Strip to buy discounted tickets, and they all offer a good deal, but lately we’ve found the best deals on the Smarter Vegas website: www.smartervegas.com.
The offers at the discount ticket booths and smartervegas.com vary from day to day, but you can find discount tickets for just about every show, plus discounted meal deals in some of Las Vegas’ finest restaurants.
Our favorites include “O” at The Bellagio, Spamalot at Wynn Las Vegas; Phantom at The Venetian; and KA at MGM Grand.
Hit the Strip. It would be a shame to go to Las Vegas and spend all your time at the convention center, so put on comfy shoes and walk the Strip (or hop the monorail and get where you’re going quicker). Stop in as many of the casinos as you can – each one has tried to out theme the others, which has resulted in one of the best places to find new ideas and inspirations – it’s where we go when we need to brainstorm new ideas. You’ll see new retail treatments and examples of stellar customer service.
Stop for refreshments at Harrah’s Carnaval Court where live bands and award-winning Flair Bartenders provide non-stop entertainment. We’re particularly fond of Wonderboogie, a swanky group of disco-playing, polyester wearing guys with afros up to there.
Shoppus ‘til you droppus. Retail places to visit include The Forum Shops at Caesars; Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood; Mandalay Place; The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian; Via Bellagio at Bellagio, The Esplanade at Wynn Las Vegas; and the new kid in town, The Shoppes at The Palazzo – 450,000 square feet of luxury retail. In the market for a million dollar diamond or a $35,000 handbag? Not to worry; they’re here.
