Every year retailers like PetSmart hold a Santa Paws Day. And every year thousands of people bring their finned, feathered and furry friends in for a photo on Santa's lap. The retailer charges a nominal fee, the majority of which goes to the ASPCA or local animal shelter. And even if you do not specifically sell items for pets, it's a wonderful way to introduce potential new customers to your store. It's also a great way to garner lots of positive word of mouth advertising and free publicity.
Just this week Lush Puppy, a store that "loves dogs and loves people who love dogs", held its Santa Paws Day and 200 Las Vegas residents brought their dogs to the store. Not a bad turn out!
