This photo was taken a few years ago at a Home Depot when a DIY (do-it-yourself) customer apparently did not think for himself.
An Ace Hardware retailer shared this story about a recent customer transaction:
A customer arrived at the store to pick up a cast aluminum dining table that was 5-feet in diameter. She wanted the store associates to lift the table onto the roof of her BMW 525i -- a $45,000 automobile -- with no roof rack. The customer thought this was an acceptable way to get the table home. No worries! She brought her sister along to help, thinking that the two of them could put their hands out the window and hold the table on the roof for the six mile drive back to their summer home.
And a few months ago another customer came in to rent a 40-foot aluminum extension ladder. This man arrived in a new Saab sedan and asked if the associates could "Just tie it onto the roof". Personally, we would have just hung it out of the sunroof. NOT!
Has a customer ever asked you to do something you knew was a disaster in the making? Inquiring minds want to know!
