Today's Chicago Tribune reports that Neiman Marcus is reaching for young and edgy shoppers with an experimental boutique called Cusp. Click to read the entire story:

The part of the article that interests us the most is that Neiman Marcus, a very traditional department store, is dropping traditional advertising and in instead marketing Cusp through a web log: http://www.blogonthecusp.com The blog allows shoppers to exchange opinions, read interviews with designers and seek styling advice.
A few months ago a seminar attendee told us that students at the college she works for requested to be notified of class changes via e-mail or text messages. The college had always telephoned or sent a letter. Welcome to your future. Perhaps the college isn't ready to move in that direction yet, but you can bet it will someday. Millennials will force the rest of us to use their communication methods of choice. We figure, why not do it sooner, rather than later?
We wonder how many of you are marketing via e-mail blasts, your own website, and blogs. Blogging is easy and it's free.
