Reader Questions Answered: Events for January, February & March

Gigi, owner of My Scrapbook Shoppe, Port Charlotte, Florida writes:

“Can you post some ideas for January, February, & March that we can start thinking about now so that we are ahead of the game? We will be celebrating our 3rd Birthday (Anniversary) in February. Any Ideas?”

We have a few suggestions and we’re sure that readers will have a few ideas to add.

January: A Create Your Own Coupon Sale is always a hit because customers get to choose what’s on sale.

February: Take-a-Chance events are easy to implement. Customers love them because they play upon our desire to take a chance – are you feeling lucky today? For February a Valentine’s Day theme always works. Purchase plastic hearts and fill each one with a discount written on a slip of paper. Customers choose a heart at the check out to reveal their discount.

March: How about a Ladies Night Open House event. Some popular things to do during your open house include refreshments (FOOD IS GOOD!), entertainment, mini-classes, and demonstrations held right on the sales floor. Throw in a few contests and door prize drawings throughout the evening as well. You may also want to offer manicures, pedicures, massages, and free gift wrap, plus “This night only” special pricing on certain items, and comfortable chairs, benches, and tables so customers can stop and rest in-between festivities. Include all of the little things you appreciate when you shop and your customers will thank you in dollars and cents.

Oh! And Valet Parking provided by your local Varsity Football Team. In full uniform. Trust us, the ladies love it, the players get to keep their tips, and the media is likely to show up. Especially if you alert them in advance!

That's our two cents -- now add yours! Click on the word "comments" below to post your ideas.

For February one of the other stores in the town 20 miles away and I are going to do a "Hearts & Flowers" progressive page. I am going to design a page that each participant will receive on their first purchase in February. They have the entire month to shop at both stores receiving 2 hearts at my store, 2 flowers at the other store and 1 freebie from either store. They receive a heart/flower for a $10.00 purchase (equating to $50.00) for the month. We are then going to have a special Midnight Madness sale for those that completed their page with the appropriate "hearts & flowers". It will be invitation only, they will shop each store that night and receive all kinds of special discounts and freebies. Food will also be served at each location. We are hoping that this will go hand in hand with the arrival of a lot of the new product from CHA. Cat!
